Yancey Hospice and Palliative Care is a private non-profit organization. We provide end of life care to all eligible patients regardless of their ability to pay. Eligible patients are those who have a condition that will lead to their passing within six months if the condition follows it usual course.

Yancey Hospice and Palliative Care bills Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurances when patients have these, but for those without any form of insurance, service is not denied. Hospice services include nurse, social worker, chaplain visits. It also includes medication, durable medical equipment and supplies.

Yancey Hospice and Palliative Care is able to provide this service due to the continued financial support of the local community. Yancey Hospice and Palliative Care receives tax-deductible donations in the form of checks written to directly to Yancey Hospice and Palliative Care and through the community’s participation in the various fund raising events held.

Yancey Hospice and Palliative Care provides a way to make a donation through PayPal using your credit card or PayPal account.

Donations of Your Time

Many people express an interest in wanting to do something to help hospice after a loved one has received hospice care.  We have many opportunities to do this through our volunteer program.

Some of the ways a volunteer helps include:

  • Volunteers visit a Hospice patient in a nursing facility
  • Volunteers in a private home can visit to give the caregiver a break
  • Volunteers can run errands or grocery shop for a patient or caregiver

Visiting a hospice patient is normally like the friendly visits you make to family, friends or church members who are sick.  There is no personal care involved as this is handled by professional staff.  Hospice staff is only a phone call away at all times so volunteers never feel like they are alone or without help should an emergency arise.
